2014 Hosted Fly Fishing Adventures

Here's our lineup of hosted saltwater trips scheduled for 2014.  If you're considering joining us for a fly fishing adventure, please get in touch now to reserve your spot.    Call us at 716-479-2327, or e-mail  us.  SINGLE ANGLERS WELCOME!!  (at double occ. rates)
We are returning to Crooked Island again in 2014 for two weeks.  Crooked offers one of the best deals in bonefishing anywhere.  Great guides, food and lodging, and a diverse fishing program make Crooked Island a must visit for all serious fly anglers.
We are not hosting a trip to Los Roques, Venezuela in 2014, but would be happy to assist you in visiting this great destination.  LR has quietly become known as one of the best bonefishing destinations anywhere.  It is located near the equator, and less likely to be affected by winter cold fronts.   We have visited LR the past 3 years and can highly recommend it for serious bonefishermen.
Our January Belize Liveaboard trip is full, but stay tuned for our trip report & future trips.
More info on each location is below.
We hope you can make it--these trips are a blast--great fishing, food and camaraderie, and some of the most spectacular scenery anywhere.   Remember, booking your guided trip with us doesn't cost any more than booking directly with the lodges. Plus, you'll receive the added advantage of having a trip host on your adventure, who is there to make sure that your trip is enjoyable and hassle-free.
Your trip host will be available to help with any tackle questions or problems that arise, as well as offering any guidance or advice on fishing techniques. We will have extra gear in the event of equipment failure or breakage. Extra leaders, tippet and flies will be available too. If you need help booking your flight and making travel arrangements, we can help. Our goal is for all guests to have the adventure of a lifetime!

Belize Liveaboard Odyssey    January 29--February 5--the trip is full

Since 1986, these liveaboards have fished Belize annually including the Turneff Islands, Ambergris Cay, Placencia and virtually everywhere between those points. There are many aspects to Belize including private islands with villas and resorts and the finest permit fishing on the globe.

However, the overriding appeal of the Belize fishery to those anglers who visit annually is the variety of shallow water, saltwater species and the different fishing environments. These various environments range from mangrove edges to bonefish, permit, and tarpon flats and includes channels and jungle rivers.

To those familiar with the Belize mothership approach, there is no better way to cover the options than living on the protected waters inside the Belize barrier reef, the second largest barrier reef in the world. What brings our regulars back each year, in spite of the sometimes fickle tropical weather, are these aspects:

•A comfortable, bug free (with rare exception), air conditioned living environment with home-cooked meals prepared around the fishing hours.

•Control of the schedule – fish basically whatever hours you want. Start early and fish late.

•Privacy – no one to answer to or dress for. Separation from the rest of the world.

•Native captains and guides who love to be on the water and who pursue the sight fishing opportunities with passion.

•A spectacular shallow water and reef marine environment – it’s just a great place to be.

•While this is primarily a fishing adventure, other activities like visiting Cays, snorkeling and scuba diving can be incorporated.

•Belize is the strongest shallow water flats fishery on earth, and on the days when you “hit it right,” it is unforgettable, whether it’s tarpon, permit, bonefish, snook, or the multitude of other species ranging from cobia to jacks, cuda, etc.

Belize Fishing Adventures consists of two liveaboards. Each boat comes with an experienced captain (who doubles as the head guide) and cook who basically spends the day preparing meals to meet the fishing schedule.

Crooked Island, Bahamas      (March 15-22 & March 22-29, 2014)

On Crooked Island, we have found what we believe to be one of the best deals in the Bahamas. The bonefishing/flats fishing is excellent, and the shallow water reef program adds another dimension to the great flats fishing already offered. The guides are great, and they work hard, often staying on the water for 10 hours. Their boats are top-notch, and better than we have seen anywhere we have visited in the Bahamas. The lodging is also modern, clean and very comfortable, and you can watch the sun setting over the ocean every evening, not to mention you can catch jacks, snapper, grouper and barracuda right from shore. And there are very few bugs here, for reasons unknown to me. The food is also superb, and as fresh as you can get it. Lobster, wahoo, mutton snapper, grouper & conch are just some of the tasty dinners we'll enjoy.

The cost is $2570.00 per person for seven nights, six full days of guided fishing. (based on double occupancy) *Cost includes guides, beachfront villas, all meals & non-alcoholic drinks on Crooked Island, and airport transfers from Crooked island airport to the Lodge. *You pay for airfare to Crooked Island, one night’s lodging, taxi & dinner in Nassau, tips, and alcohol, if desired.

Catskills Trout Camps   Two camps:  (June 1-4 & 8-11)
Join us on our 6th annual hosted trout camp in the Catskills

This year we are only offering the unguided package.  If you would like to get a guide, we can help arrange a guided float or walk and wade trip for you.

The unguided option is unguided.  We are still the hosts, and we provide assistance stream side in the form of fly selection, finding the runs/pools, and fishing locations within the runs/pools.  But we are not at your side for the entire day--we will fish the rivers with you.  This option is cheaper than a fully guided trip and is great for anglers who don't need a  guide at their side, but find some direction and minimal assistance helpful.  The cost of the trip is $475/person, and includes 3 nights riverfront lodging,  dinners, beer & all non-alcoholic drinks.  Guests bring their own breakfast & lunch provisions.

We will be staying on the banks of the West Branch of the Delaware river, and we'll fish the area rivers of our choice, depending on which ones are fishing best.

Elk River, B.C. Dry Fly Adventure     (August 9-16)
Free dvd available-just ask and we'll send it to you

Finding great “new” spots is tougher today--here’s one to consider: while not unknown, the area around Fernie, British Columbia has earned a great (and closely guarded) reputation. The good news is that this area has some of the best dry fly fishing in North America and it has not been widely publicized. The bad news is that word is getting out and this ideal situation may begin to change in the future.

Regardless, right now this area has fantastic fishing with the main focus being some fifty miles of the Elk River. Unlike on the Missouri, Madison and many other rivers, the chances of seeing the typical “drift boat hatch” on the Elk River is small. You may only see a few other boats in a full day of fishing! There are also several other small streams that flow into the Elk and hold good populations of big fish. Most of these small streams see very little pressure and can only be reached by foot. These streams may require a bit of an effort to fish, but the rewards make it very worthwhile.

The primary target is West slope Cutthroat Trout, a species alternately snubbed as too easy to catch or adored for its slow motion, dry fly take. And while both are true, it is also true that the larger they grow, the smarter they become... and the Elk River has some cutts’ with thick shoulders and deep bodies!

There will be three package options to choose from:

The first package will be $2450/person, and includes your lodging for seven nights, four days of guided fishing, all breakfasts & lunches, pick up and drop off at Glacier International Airport, and all transportation while in Fernie.  The other non-guided days we'll be fishing and exploring together.  You pay for your flight to Kalispell, MT, dinners, fishing license, alcohol & tips.  (Depending on the # of people in our group, renting your own vehicle may be required, in which case a discount will be given) (this package price is based on two people sharing a guide)

The second package will be $2200/person, and includes your lodging for seven nights, three days of guided fishing, all breakfasts & lunches, pick up and drop off at Glacier International Airport, and all transportation while in Fernie.

The third package will be $1950/person, and includes your lodging for seven nights, two days of guided fishing, all breakfasts & lunches, pick up and drop off at Glacier International Airport, and all transportation while in Fernie.
