Crooked offers one of the best deals in bonefishing anywhere. Great guides, food and lodging, and a diverse fishing program make Crooked Island a must visit for all anglers. Our Acklins Island hosted DIY Bonefishing trips have been a huge success. We are going back in March for 2-3 weeks, and staying at Ivel's, the best place on the Island for the DIY angler. We are also returning in 2013 to Los Roques, Venezuela, (our 3rd trip) which has quietly become known as one of the best bonefishing destinations anywhere. It is located near the equator, and less likely to be affected by winter cold fronts. More info on each location is below. We hope you can make it--these trips are a blast--great fishing, food and camaraderie, and some of the most spectacular scenery anywhere. Remember, booking your guided trip with us doesn't cost any more than booking directly with the lodges. Plus, you'll receive the added advantage of having a trip host on your adventure, who is there to make sure that your trip is enjoyable and hassle-free. Your trip host will be available to help with any tackle questions or problems that arise, as well as offering any guidance or advice on fishing techniques. We will have extra gear in the event of equipment failure or breakage. Extra leaders, tippet and flies will be available too. If you need help booking your flight and making travel arrangements, we can help. Our goal is for all guests to have the adventure of a lifetime!

National Park Archipelago Los Roques is a necklace of islands in the Caribbean Sea situated 80 miles off the north coast of Venezuela, conveniently located for anglers traveling from the US. Technically referred to as an archipelago, Los Roques is an unspoiled atoll, characterized by its extremely clear waters, magnificent coral beds, diverse and varied flats, sandy beaches and hundreds of smaller mangrove cays –all with incredible natural beauty. Los Roques was declared a National Park in the mid-70’s. and then in the mid 90’s, even more environmentally conscious regulations were enacted to protect the overall environment of the entire Archipelago. Some flats are coral, some are soft marl covered with turtle grass and sea weed, however most flats are firm, clean white, or golden in color, and easy to navigate. You will also be fishing extensive sand flats and beach flats, channels, cuts, coral shallows, mangroves, and massive muds created by hundreds of fish schooled up and feeding. In sum, Los Roques represents a bonefisherman’s wading paradise. Los Roques continues to be one of the best kept secrets in saltwater fly fishing.
Thanks to its location (only 12 degrees north of the equator), Los Roques air and water temperatures vary little. The climate at Los Roques is dry and it rarely rains. The area is relatively unaffected by cold fronts and hurricanes. These factors make Los Roques one of the most consistent bonefishing locations in the world.
Los Roques offers outstanding numbers of Bonefish with a very solid average size of 3-4 pounds. Fish over 5 pounds are caught more frequently than fish under 2 pounds, and good numbers of fish in the 7-10 pound range are present. Over the past two seasons, our largest bonefish released weighed in at a whopping 13 pounds! Although bonefish are the main attraction in Los Roques, tarpon from 10 to 100 pounds are frequently landed. They can often be seen rolling in the channels and occasionally on the deeper flats. Permit are seen occasionally, but are rarely caught. Other available species at Los Roques include barracuda, snook, cero mackerel, bonito and a variety of snappers and hard fighting jacks.
Once at Los Roques, the typical day begins at 7:30 a.m. After a hearty breakfast, you walk only few feet from your beachfront room to load your gear into the boat. Sight Cast’s protocol consist of a pair of anglers to a guide, a boatman and a boat, to ensure that only two anglers will be on a certain flat at a time. Generally, anglers will share the guide for equal periods of time as they alternate flats. Fishing hours may vary depending on conditions but it is a full 8-hour fishing experience each day.
After a full day of fishing, anglers return to Acuarela Lodge at around 4:30 pm where the staff will be waiting to assist them in unloading their equipment. Acuarela is a deluxe beachfront lodge on El Gran Roque with 10 comfortable rooms and an ample lounge area. Rooms are well ventilated with. Each room has a private bathroom with hot water. Meals at the lodge are prepared especially for anglers, and the attention and service is top quality.
Cost is $4250/person, based on double occupancy ($560 for extra day of angling and night on Los Roques)
Included: First night lodging at the Eurobuilding Express Hotel (the nicest hotel on the mainland in La Guaira), 6 nights lodging and 6 days fishing on Los Roques, all ground transfer services on the mainland, round trip air transfers from Caracas to Los Roques, three meals per day, fishing licenses and permits, beer and soft drinks on the boat each day.
Not Included: International flight to Caracas, meals and beverages on the mainland, alcohol (except beers on the boat,) gratuities for guides and staff, Los Roques National Park Entry Fee (approx. US$18)
Bahamas DIY Adventure March15-22 (full), 22-29 (full)
Hosted DIY adventure
There is room for 3 anglers to fish with us on this Hosted do-it-yourself adventure to this remote Island. As your host, we will be available to help with any tackle questions or problems that arise, as well as offering guidance and advice on fishing techniques and spotting fish.
We'll be fishing and exploring this wonderful island in the Bahamas—long days exploring and fishing are the norm here—there is not much else to do! We'll be wade fishing interior sand and turtle grass flats, ocean-side sand and coral flats, and stunning beaches, for mostly bonefish & tarpon, but barracuda, jacks, snappers, boxfish, triggerfish, sharks and palometa are common. We may even have shots at permit.
This trip includes everything that the all-inclusive lodges do, except the guides. So, for anglers with intermediate fly fishing skills and some saltwater experience, this is a great adventure at a great price. Guided days are available if desired.
Cost: $1850.00 for a week of fishing. This price includes your beachfront hotel, all your meals, rental truck, maps. Your flight to the island one night’s lodging, taxi & dinner in Nassau, alcohol, tips & gas for rental vehicle are extra. This is not a guided fly-fishing trip. The group is limited to fthree anglers and intermediate fly fishing skills are required. You must also be physically fit as the trip involves lots of wading and hiking.
Crooked Island, Bahamas (March 16-23 & March 23-30, 2013)
On Crooked Island, we have found what we believe to be one of the best deals in the Bahamas. The bonefishing/flats fishing is excellent, and the shallow water reef program adds another dimension to the great flats fishing already offered. The guides are great, and they work hard, often staying on the water for 10 hours. Their boats are top-notch, and better than we have seen anywhere we have visited in the Bahamas. The lodging is also modern, clean and very comfortable, and you can watch the sun setting over the ocean every evening, not to mention you can catch jacks, snapper, grouper and barracuda right from shore. And there are very few bugs here, for reasons unknown to me. The food is also superb, and as fresh as you can get it. Lobster, wahoo, mutton snapper, grouper & conch are just some of the tasty dinners we'll enjoy.
The cost is $2535.00 per person for seven nights, six full days of guided fishing. (based on double occupancy) *Cost includes guides, beachfront villas, all meals & non-alcoholic drinks on Crooked Island, and airport transfers from Crooked island airport to the Lodge. *You pay for airfare to Crooked Island, one night’s lodging, taxi & dinner in Nassau, tips, and alcohol, if desired.
Catskills Trout Camps Two camps: (June 2-5 & 9-12, 2013)
Join us on our 6th annual hosted trout camp in the Catskills
This year we are only offering the unguided package. If you would like to get a guide, we can help arrange a guided float or walk and wade trip for you.
The unguided option is unguided. We are still the hosts, and we provide assistance stream side in the form of fly selection, finding the runs/pools, and fishing locations within the runs/pools. But we are not at your side for the entire day--we will fish the rivers with you. This option is cheaper than a fully guided trip and is great for anglers who don't need a guide at their side, but find some direction and minimal assistance helpful. The cost of the trip is $475/person, and includes 3 nights riverfront lodging, dinners, beer & all non-alcoholic drinks. Guests bring their own breakfast & lunch provisions.
We will be staying on the banks of the West Branch of the Delaware river, and we'll fish the area rivers of our choice, depending on which ones are fishing best.
Classic Atlantic Salmon fishing on the beautiful rivers of Gaspe, Quebec
This is a great trip for anyone interested in classic atlantic salmon fishing!
Hosted by Ann Smith, owner of Quebec Sporting (http://quebecsporting.com/). Ann runs a great operation, and her guides will show you the beautiful and wild rivers of the Gaspe region. Ann is always on hand to ensure that your trip goes smoothly, from meeting you upon your arrival to checking in each day after fishing and helping to prepare for the next day's adventure.
I first met Ann at the Somerset Fly Fishing show in New Jersey, and several good friends of mine have been going to Gaspe for 10+ years each June to catch Atlantic Salmon. They return each year to fish for large, fresh atlantic salmon up to 30+ lbs!
This is one of the best deals in classic Atlantic Salmon fishing on beautiful, remote and pristine rivers.

This also includes your daily license and regulated water fees, along with catch & release licenses. You pay for your food, and transportation to/from Gaspe, and tips for your guide. Elk River, B.C. Dry Fly Adventure (August 17-24, 2013) two weeks!
Free dvd available-just ask and we'll send it to you
Finding great “new” spots is tougher today--here’s one to consider: while not unknown, the area around Fernie, British Columbia has earned a great (and closely guarded) reputation. The good news is that this area has some of the best dry fly fishing in North America and it has not been widely publicized. The bad news is that word is getting out and this ideal situation may begin to change in the future.
Regardless, right now this area has fantastic fishing with the main focus being some fifty miles of the Elk River. Unlike on the Missouri, Madison and many other rivers, the chances of seeing the typical “drift boat hatch” on the Elk River is small. You may only see a few other boats in a full day of fishing! There are also several other small streams that flow into the Elk and hold good populations of big fish. Most of these small streams see very little pressure and can only be reached by foot. These streams may require a bit of an effort to fish, but the rewards make it very worthwhile.
The primary target is West slope Cutthroat Trout, a species alternately snubbed as too easy to catch or adored for its slow motion, dry fly take. And while both are true, it is also true that the larger they grow, the smarter they become... and the Elk River has some cutts’ with thick shoulders and deep bodies!
There will be three package options to choose from:
The first package will be $2450/person, and includes your lodging for seven nights, four days of guided fishing, all breakfasts & lunches, pick up and drop off at Glacier International Airport, and all transportation while in Fernie. The second package will be $2200/person, and includes your lodging for seven nights, three days of guided fishing, all breakfasts & lunches, pick up and drop off at Glacier International Airport, and all transportation while in Fernie.
